Pacific Northwest Shrine Clown Association 173 Edgehill Drive N.W. Calgary, Alberta T3A 2W5
You are most likely aware that our organization, the PNSCA, is under the mandate of the Pacific Northwest Shrine Association. (PNSA) This association comprises seventeen shrine centers in the Northwest part of the U.S. and the two western Provinces of Canada. Our association is also a part of the International Shrine Clown Association (ISCA) and so we work hand-in-hand with at least two international groups. The aim of the PNSCA is to provide a forum for all clowns in our area to come together at least once a year to: Compete. Competition is the factor that lets each of us work together to improve our image and style. This is, in fact, the fun part of the whole session. Share Ideas. It is within this forum that many novel ideas are exchanged. One can get a feel for a certain costume, type of make-up, style of face, presentation and a myriad of other matters of mutual interest. There is no criticism, only cheerful suggestions. Common Interest. Since we are geographically situated in a more-or-less common area, our meetings provide a forum for each clown to express his view on the future development of our organization and make suggestions as to how to improve ourselves. Communication. A bulletin is published wherein the officers have a chance to provide you with an outline of their decisions and thoughts on the forthcoming activities such as the Imperial Session, summer PNSCA and other. There is also room for each clown to provide input to the bulletin if they feel their information is of value to other clowns. Social. The annual PNSCA session is held each year in a different locale and provides a wonderful opportunity, nor only for the clowns to meet, but also for their families to socialize and discuss various facets of clowning. Other. There are many other factors that make this organization an important and useful part of the Pacific Northwest clowns such as the market place at each session, the classes held on various topics, the moral and technical guidelines, and so on. In discussion with clowns from other organizations, it has been found that most of them wish they could have such an organization as ours to help them promote their cause. Indeed we do have a unique organization for not only does it help us, but that, in turn, also permits us to be better clowns with the end result of helping our children. So give it a thought. Come on our and help us help you and thus we all become better clowns and our presentations improve immeasurably. Who benefits? Naturally it is the precious children who we strive so hard to help improve their lot in life. By Ed "Fuzz" Wilson, Past President (2001-2002)
