John “no dough” Maloney
1st Vice President.

From the 2nd VP

.I would like to thank the confidence shown by the members who attended the Boise PNSCA Convention this summer in electing me as 2nd Vice President.  I have had some hectic times this past year, but I retired at the beginning of August and I hope to devote more time and energy to this worthwhile group.  I went to a clown conference back east earlier this summer and came home excited and energized.  It ran for a week, and the cost for courses, room and board was $260 for everything except travel.  The dealers room was awesome (stay away from there --it can cost you a lot).  Unfortunately it wasn’t a PNSCA Convention.  But it made me wish that we could run the PNSCA conventions like this.  The education, camaraderie and sharing was first rate and made me feel that it was worth every penny I spent.  During my acceptance talk at our annual general meeting I suggested that we offer an extended convention with at least two days of education, if not more.  If I am going to travel at least one day each way, the time spent at the convention needs to make this worthwhile.  I feel that there is enough expertise in the organization that we would not have to incur extra costs in hiring outside talent.  We could ask our own Units to suggest members to put on various seminars which would include a wide variety of topics, some of which could be:
Character Development
Hand Magic
Hospital Visits
Beginner Balloons
Advanced Balloons
Birthday Parties
Parade Ability
Props Manufacture
Working with a partner
Skits - one man
Text Box: Skits – two man or more
Attendance at the PNSCA has fallen in recent years.  I personally feet that the cost of travel and time of travel to attend a two day meeting at the cost of 2 to 3 hundred dollars and the hotel cost on top to receive one day of seminar and a day of competitions and a general meeting doesn’t incite the overwhelming desire to attend.  If we could extend the seminars for a few days and have lots of fellowship during the meals and evenings and keep the cost down would we get better attendance?  Would you and your fellow Joys be interested in revamping our convention?  Please talk to your fellow Joeys then please e-mail your thoughts or suggestions to your executives so we can know what you want in your conventions.  When I suggested increasing the length of out Convention I heard some say, “Yes we should have more seminars.” and others saying “No, a one day seminar is enough.”  What is it you want?  My job is to meet the needs of the clowns in our region and give something educationally that will bring more members out and send them home excited and ready to jump back into active clowning.  Let me know what you really want.  I’ll do my best to get that for you.
Fraternally, John ‘Big Foot’ Fleming

3rd VP has a word to say

Well here we go my first report and greeting to my fellow joeys.

I will just get to the bottom line.

You are no doubt aware that the “Joeys “attendance at the last PNSCA in Boise was extremely disappointing, to sat the least. I have heard many comments as to why but have never heard any suggested solutions.

I will be contacting your unit in the next couple of months hoping that I will get feed back as to what you would like to see at these events. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

As one of my duties is putting on Education, I
